Residential
HVAC, plumbing, and electrical system design for residential use can be very complex and should not be overlooked when building a new home or renovating an existing one. Factors to consider include fuel availability, housing type, construction characteristics, budgets, and building codes. As a result, site-specific circumstances may call for unique designs.

HVAC SYSTEMS
Many different systems are available to provide a combinations of heating, cooling, humidification, de-humidification, ventilation, exhaust, and air filtering. Smith Miller Associates has experience in designing geothermal heat pump systems, solar heating, ductless split systems, variable refrigerant flow systems (VRF), radiant heat, condensing gas furnaces, high efficiency boilers, heat recovery, etc. Many of our designs comply with the latest Energy Star requirements, and qualify for utility rebates.
PLUMBING SYSTEMS
These systems are becoming more complex with numerous things to consider. Among such concerns are: fuel source ( propane, oil, natural gas), water source (municipal, well), water quality (softeners, RO, DI), piping materials used (PVC, pex, copper), fixture selection, water conservation (low flow fixtures), radon mitigation, domestic hot water heating (point of use, tank-less, re-circulation, solar), lawn sprinklers, etc.ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
Area of concern include: incoming service, on site back up power, solar (PV), interior and exterior lighting systems fire alarm and smoke detection, security (CTV, Intrusion Detection), smart home technologies, fiber optics , FIOS, cable, telephone, internet, satellite, data, wireless, etc.RESIDENTIAL PROJECT LIST
